PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS OF DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS
The Science and Technology Department of Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School, started the school year 2018 – 2019, with the Election of the Yes – O and SCAAP Officers. Meetings were scheduled by the respective advisers of said clubs, for the Planning and Implementation of various science activities. Initial projects were the “Shoot that Kalat” and the Clean – Up Drive.In compliance with the “Clean and Green” campaign of the DepEd, an URBAN GARDEN on one side of the new SB building was initiated last August. The Quezon City government provided some bags of garden soil, seeds and other materials and tools to be used. Medicinal, ornamental, flowering and some vegetable plants were grown in the garden, in addition to a number of existing trees in the area. Eggplants, patola, kamias, alugbati and ginger were some of the produce from the garden. In celebration of the Science and Technology Month, last September with the theme, “Science for the People: Liberating Education Through Innovation, school – based activities such as Film Showing, Science Trivia, Poster Making, Science Quiz and SYMBO were done inside the classrooms, during the science classes, to ensure 100% participation of the students and in conformity to the DepEd’s “Time on Task” Policy. A Mini Science exhibit was also put up last October 2-4, during the school’s 24th foundation anniversary celebration, where recycled innovative projects of students were displayed. Some selected students and teachers also participated in the District Science Fair contests, held at DARSSTHS last September 19, 2018. Our school got the 1st and 4th place respectively in the SIP Applied Team Category and Improvisation (Student Category), with the guidance and supervision of Mrs. Sandhay M. Torio, our Science Research Adviser. Mrs. Mary Klausky M. Pazon and Mrs. Sandhay M. Torio, also participated in the SIM and got the 1st and 3rd place respectively. Selected science teachers also participated in the “Improvisation Contest”. During the Division Science Fair, held at Juan Sumulong High School, selected Gr. 10 students represented the school in the “Robotics Contest.”, last October 4, 2018. Our school’s STRIVE representatives, Ron Ron Villanueva and Rodel Habal, of Gr. 8- Sampaguita, proved their 100% interest in said training for having a complete attendance since the start of the training to the present. Two of our Science teachers are taking their Master’s in the Graduate School, with Science as their area of specialization. To further enhance and enrich their knowledge and skills, some teachers attended trainings and seminars. Mrs. Mary Klausky M. Pazon, Physics teacher was declared “Most Outstanding Teacher’ this year, next to Mrs. Marciana R. Duran, Biology teacher who was also declared “Most Outstanding Teacher” last year. Science LAC sessions were also conducted at least twice a month, where teachers discuss and share important and relevant ideas and concepts, through brainstorming, mentoring and others. To improve Science Instruction, some forms of intervention were done by the teacher such as giving of 3–5 HOTS questions before and after the discussion of the topic/unit, peer tutoring among the students, especially in the higher sections and remedial classes for slow learners. Science teachers usually hold their classes in the laboratory room, especially when discussing or presenting lessons, using audiovisual equipment like computer, TV set and projector, by informing in advance the Science Department Head, for proper re-scheduling. Teachers also borrow or avail the tools, equipment and other materials in the laboratory, anytime they need them in their classrooms. On-going projects of the department are the “Bawas Basura” and “Waste Segregation”, where students are trained to recycle, reuse and reduce biodegradable as well as non – biodegradable waste materials.
“A year has passed but the remains of it will be reminisced forever.”
So many memories has been done as the Araling Panlipunan Department and the AP Club introduced the contests for the Month of October with the theme: “International Decade of Action: Water for Sustainable Development.”
For the opening program of the AP Department the AP Club Officers governed by Jorland Salando prepared a short dance intermission number. They have danced the famous songs of KPOP Group MOMOLAND namely Bam and Bboom bboom. What made the crowd happy is that all of the AP Teachers danced with the club officers in front and up the stage. Few of the activities of the AP Department are as follows:
AP LOGO MAKING CONTESTThe students of Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School were challenged by the AP Department to join the said event and whoever wins will have a chance that their masterpiece will be used as the official logo of the AP department. “This will serve as their legacy” said Mrs. Patungan to the participants during the contest that has been held on the covered court of DJJMHS. Miguel Mendoza of 10-Diamond got the top spot and won the event, followed by Septemverlyn Nebres and Cifriana Tonacao of 9-Platinum.
INFOMERCIALInfomercial or short for “information and Commercial was also one of the prepared events of the AP Department that became a very great challenge for every group participant. It could be in a form of a music video or commercial about the preservation of the beauty of our Mother Nature. Every group participant must have an original song composition about the topic. The Grade 10-Diamond took the top place. Joyce Ann Rossette Estrella edited the whole music video “kalikasan” performed by Gemrose Arizobal, Romnick Borja, Mark Justin Paiz, Paul Vincent Buemia, Lorrea Owen Neri and Nica Manaol.
DIGITAL POSTER AND SLOGAN MAKING CONTESTThe Digital Poster and Slogan Making contest has been held inside the ICT room located at the Grade 10 building. All of the participants has been assisted by Ms. Catherine Duran and Mrs. Leocadia Avergonzado, both AP Teachers.Winners for the Digital Poster Making Contest are:• Mark Justin Paiz• Jaike Xander Paiz• Arden MecasioWinners for the Slogan Making Contest are:• Mark James Paas• Joyce Ann Rossette Estrella• Jerome Jacobe
PERA O BASKET?Pera o Basket is the Jaranian version of pera o bayong. This has been a most awaited part of every student every Monday of October. Same from Wowowin, the AP Teachers asks the students a sets of questions but about United Nations. The one that will be left will be playing pera o basket.Some of the winners are Christian Nulada and Liezel Panganiban. INTERNATIONAL FOOD FESTIVALInternational Food Festival was also one of the highlights of the AP Month whereas every group of students that was composed of three will represent the food of their chosen country including the national dress. They have also prepared a food stall so that they can prepare the dishes. It was held on the Covered Court of DJJMHS and started at 9:00 in the morning. All of the AP Teachers and the AP Club officers had assisted the said event.
BANSAYAWANBansayawan or short for “sayaw ng mga bansa” was held on the Covered Court of DJJMHS and was the most awaited contest by the students. This became the very Culminating Activity of the AP Department and the AP Club officers for the AP Month. It was done last November 5, 2018. Based on the criteria for judging there must be “one group” representative for every grade level and must be composed of 25-30 members. On the Championship day, smiles and tears of joy is what the 8th Grade level got when they brought home the bacon with their aesthetic performance of African Dance and lastly the 10th Grade for European Dance. Everybody has enjoyed the event as they also had received their trophies and tokens of appreciation.

December is the month intended for Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao. This is month we has been anticipated with joy and thanksgiving for the unwavering love that the Almighty God has bestowed upon us.
The celebration started with a simple salu-salo, where KPSEP adviser, officers and members shared simple yet sumptuous snacks.
The culmination program known as the ‘’ANNUAL GIFT-GIVING”, was simple yet memorable, not only to the ESP department but to all teachers who were able to share their blessings to their students deprived of material things. Bags of goodies were handed to deserving students and upon receiving, innocent smile and in a soft voice, uttered a voice of thanks.
“Mathematics for International Competitiveness”, theme for Mathematics Month 2019. It started with a Thanksgiving Mass. Math Trivia, was also given every first Monday of the month, as an additional knowledge for the students given by assigned Mathematics teachers.
Poster, slogan making contest, and quiz bee are the highlights of the celebration.
The Laro ng Lahi 2018 was held at the Quezon City High School. All of the CD4 high schools participated in the said event. As part of the teams, Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School was given the assigned game of Tumbang preso. The said game was headed by Mr. Jose Banday, MAPEH head who was seen in the photos instructing the students about the rules and regulation of the said game. Mr. Banday was with the Prancipal Dr. Janet L. Aribon and the MAPEH teachers in this once a year event of the CD4. As a participant of the District athletic meet 2018, the MAPEH Department showed an allout support to the Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez Highschool’s athlete at the opening unit meet held at Quezon City Highschool on October 2018. DJJMHS participated to various games and events. One of them is Table tennis which was led by Mr. Isabelo Credo III, it was held at Pura Kalaw and was attended by trained athletes for Girls and boys division as well as the singles and doubles division. Also, they participated in Track and Field event which was led by Mrs. Esperanza Bautista the overall coach of District 4 for the said event. The athletes brought home the bacon for being champions in various categories of CD4 athletic meet track and field and were a qualifier for the division category. Track and field won in different category. John Carlo Paradero singles A, is the champion in district meet and a division meet qualifier. Track and field girls, Arsenio Jhoana Mae 100m gold on District meet and 200m silver also from the district meet and is a division qualifier. Garganta Aika 3000m won silver 2000m walk silver from district meet and also a division meet qualifier. Relay 4x100 Arsenio Jhoana Mae, Ballesteros Ruby Jane, Visda Cherry Mae, Bebat Cassandra are champions from. The event was held at Pasig Ultra with assistant coach, Mr. Philip Canayong and chaperone, Ms. Madeline Serrano and Mr. Jose Banday as team manager. Another event was Arnis which was led by Mrs. Madeline Serrano for the girls division and Ms. Cheryll Quezon for the boys division. Fernan B. Parallag Jr won a silver medal, and lastly, Badminton which was led by Mr. IsabeloCredo III.
LAC Session MAPEH department was held at DJJMHS last January 28, 2019. MAPEH teachers were united to join and talk about each other and to make improvements on their part as MAPEH teacher. This interaction is building the rapport and camaraderie of each other by sharing their thoughts. Workshop, trainings and Seminar is vital and essential for MAPEH teachers for them to enhance their knowledge about the subject matter. MAPEH teachers are encourage to attend the said events for them to enhance their capacity for them to be able to learn new techniques in teaching as well as new interactions which will help them in building a good relationship with their students at the same time, being able to teach their students what they need to know while having fun. Clean-Up drive at the Coastal and Clinic Activities was done which involves service to the community of the MAPEH teachers. It allows us to build social responsibility not just inside the school but also outside the school. These activities strengthen our minds to become prepare for certain community problems and issues that we might face during the school year. These activities enable us to be more active and to be more knowledgeable on how to deal with our community. NSED was also part of our activity as MAPEH teachers. It may not be considered as fun and recreational activity, but it will still be helpful for us in the near future. Having the opportunity to be leaders of NSED, we are able to teach the Do's and Don’ts when an earthquake occurs. We were able to teach what to do before after and during earthquakes which will be very beneficial. MAPEH teachers participated in this event as a given task in line with our subject matter. School activities were done in almost any school. Of course, MAPEH teachers will take part of these activities as part of our recreational activities for us to have fun and enjoy while interacting with our fellow teacher.
